How do i breed Ancistrus dolichopterus?
Ancistrus dolichopterus is easy to breed and can be breed in community aquariums. Decorate your aquarium so that there are small caves among bogwood and caves that are just large enough for one of your Ancistrus dolichopterus to fit in it. The fish will use these caves as hiding places. Provide them with plenty of vegetable food and they will eventually spawn if they are sexually mature. You can try to darken the aquarium for a week to trigger spawning. This is usually not necessary. Some fry usually survive in community aquariums but breeding in species aquariums are more productive.
